Required Elements

The defendant wrongfully obtained or exerted unauthorized control over the property or services of another;
With intent to deprive the other of such property or services;
And the value of the property or services exceeds five thousand dollars (excluding firearms and motor vehicles).

Probable Cause Checklist

Identify the property or service stolen.
Establish ownership of the property.
Establish the fair market value of the property (receipts, appraisals, victim statement).
Evidence showing the suspect took or possessed the property (surveillance, witness statements, pawn records).
Evidence of intent to deprive (concealment, false statements, leaving without paying).
