(1) Prosecutions for the offenses of murder, homicide by abuse, and arson where a death has occurred may be commenced at any time after their commission. (2) Prosecutions for the offenses of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death or a person who has sustained serious bodily injury, trafficking in persons, leading organized crime, and any felony committed by a public officer in connection with the duties of his or her office or constituting a breach of his or her public duty or a violation of his or her oath of office, may be commenced at any time after their commission. (3) In the case of a felony sex offense, a prosecution may be commenced at any time. (4) Except as provided in subsection (1), (2), or (3) of this section, prosecutions for other felonies must be commenced within the following periods of time after their commission: (a) For a class A felony, six years; (b) For a class B felony, three years; (c) For a class C felony, three years. (5) Prosecutions for misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors must be commenced within the following periods of time after their commission: (a) For a gross misdemeanor, two years; (b) For a misdemeanor, one year.Visit Website
