(1) When a peace officer who is a defendant in a criminal case is found not guilty by reason of justifiable homicide or justifiable use of deadly force, or when the case is dismissed by reason of justifiable homicide or justifiable use of deadly force, the state of Washington shall reimburse the defendant for all reasonable costs, including loss of time, legal fees incurred, and other expenses involved in his or her defense. (2) If the trier of fact makes a special finding of justifiable homicide or justifiable use of deadly force, the judge shall determine the amount of the award.Visit Website
