Classification and designation of crimes.

The complete and official text of the statute.

(1) A crime is a felony if it is so designated in this code or by any other statute of this state or if a sentence of imprisonment for a term of more than one year is authorized.
(2) A crime is a gross misdemeanor if it is so designated in this code or by any other statute of this state or if a sentence of imprisonment for a term of one year or less is authorized.
(3) A crime is a misdemeanor if it is so designated in this code or by any other statute of this state or if a sentence of imprisonment for a term of ninety days or less is authorized.
