Murder in the first degree—Sentence.

The complete and official text of the statute.
(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, a person convicted of the crime of murder in the first degree shall be sentenced to a term of total confinement of not less than twenty years.
(2) A person convicted of the crime of murder in the first degree shall be sentenced to life imprisonment if the person has one or more prior convictions for a "most serious offense" as defined in RCW 9.94A.030.
